The Lexus GS is a luxury car that directly competes with models from Mercedes as well as from other European or American manufacturers. This means it is a great car but so far it lacked a sport model that could directly compete with the super sedans until now. There are rumors that there was a 2016 Lexus GS F caught on camera. The pictures show a similar car to the base GS with a few modifications such as a new exhaust and a new body kit.
2016 Lexus GS F Price and Release Date
Price hasn’t been disclosed yet but we think that it could cost around 70 to 75.000 dollars for a base model which would fall just above the GS350 F Sport. However, there will be more expensive versions of the GS F that will probably include performance upgrades and different styling options. The release date for this new model has been set in the first quarter of 2016.
The engine is the most important upgrade in the 2016 Lexus GS F. As far as we know it will feature a similar engine to the RC F or the IS F but with a different tuning. Thanks to it and probably new intake and exhaust systems, it will provide up to 500 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The power spike won’t be that noticeable especially because of the fact that the car weighs nearly 4000 pounds.
2016 Lexus GS F Performance will be better than most of its competitors thanks to an unlimited gearbox and ECU. The maximum top speed will be over 170 MPH while the acceleration from 0 to 60 MPH will be done in less than 5 seconds! With these numbers it will be able to compete with the M5 and the AMGs with absolutely no problem.
Transmission wise, it will feature a slightly modified 8 speed automatic to compensate for the higher mass. This will drive solely the rear wheels via a limited slip electronic differential.
There isn’t much to talk about the interior of the 2016 Lexus GS F because it is based on the GS350 F Sport which means it will feature all of the options and trimmings of that model. The only differences will be in the form of a new steering wheel and new front seats that will probably be supplied by Recaro.
Exterior and Design
From the pictures of the prototype we can see a car that has a stylish body kit that isn’t too flashy. The wheels which equipped that model were 20 inches and were made by HRE while the brakes were Brembo all around. The exhaust system was also quite different than that of the IS F and that is quite normal considering what Lexus is going for. Instead of the stacked quad exhaust it will not feature a dual exhaust what will be more towards the center of the bumper.
