The Aventador is Lamborghini’s current flagship and despite its great looks and monstrous engine, the car has been released more than three years ago, so it actually received a couple of updates this year which will make it even more desirable than it was. The 2015 Lamborghini Aventador comes with a better interior, a more impressive exterior as well as slight changes to its engine and even a couple of all new models.
2015 Lamborghini Aventador Engine
The engine in the Lamborghini Aventador 2015 remained identical to that of the 2011 model, so it is the same 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 which is one of the most powerful naturally aspirated engines in the World. The base trim level of the car offers 690 horsepower and 508 lb-ft of torque which is quite impressive. The SV on the other hand will bump that to 740 horsepower and little over 510 lb-ft of torque. The engine sends its power to an all wheel drive system via a 7 speed single-clutch automatic gearbox which is the fastest of its kind.
Thanks to this, the car will hit 60 MPH in 3 seconds or less, for any of the four models, and it will hit more than 217 MPH. An auto magazine actually clocked the standard Aventador at over 235 MPH which is far better than anyone expected it to be. While they did not say anything about this, it seems that in the near future the Aventador could receive a new powertrain which will allow it to meet all the pollution laws in all the countries it is sold in. Some people even said that the car will come with a hybrid but this is highly unlikely considering that there is just not enough space for batteries or even an electric motor.
Design of the 2015 Lambo Aventador
The design of the 2015 Lamborghini Aventador did not change a bit since it was first launched and this is fine with us because the car looks amazing. However, the SV model does come with a few upgrades which are meant to make it a faster car around a track. The car is around 110 pounds lighter than the usual model thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber and on top of that, all the usual active aerodynamic features have been replaced by a fixed wing at the back and fixed side-scoops.
The wheels have also been upgraded to lightweight alloys which are wrapped in 14 inch wide tires at the back! Inside the cabin, the SV comes with fixed carbon fiber seats which are thinly padded as well as carbon fiber door covers with leather straps instead of handles in order to save as much weight as possible.
2015 Lamborghini Aventador Price and Release date
These new models are the SV line of cars, or Super Veloce, and Lamborghini is going to build a coupe as well as a convertible. Unlike the usual model though which is not numbered, they will only build 600 of these cars and the price is considerably higher than the $400,000 of the base coupe model. In fact, the SV is rumored to cost well over $550,000 for the convertible and around $500,000 for the coupe which is a lot by any standards, especially since the car is nowhere near as fast as some of the other cars at this price point.
However, this doesn’t mean it is slow. In fact, it remains one of the fastest accelerating cars in the World but its chassis is not really meant for destroying lap times but rather for offering its driver and its passenger the best possible experience without endangering them. The SV models are already available for sale but Lamborghini will not say the actual price of the car until you put an order for it.
