There are quite a few compact crossovers on the market and most of these are usually missing a few important details which would make more people buy them. Suzuki is looking to change that by offering one of the most complete crossovers in its class, the 2017 Suzuki IV 4.

The car will share its chassis with the Baleno which means it will likely get its engines as well as part of the interior as well. This will allow Suzuki to keep costs down while still offering a great car to drive for most people.

The only real problem we see at this point with the upcoming model is that it will be priced quite close to its bigger siblings but considering it will be similarly priced to its competitors than it should not be such a big problem.

In terms of engines, the 2017 Suzuki IV 4 is going to make use of a couple of petrol engines as well as a diesel. This should allow it to trump its competitors which are usually only offering one or two engines. The base model will get a naturally aspirated 1.2 liter inline 4 good for 90 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque. This will come with a 5 speed manual or even a CVT gearbox for improved fuel consumption and if the car will get the engines from the Baleno, we could even see a hybrid version with around 100 horsepower and 10 to 30% better fuel economy!

Further up the range, people will get the chance of choosing one of the following two. The petrol engine will be a 1 liter 3 cylinder turbo with 110 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque while the diesel will be a 1.3 liter unit with around 80 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque. Both of these will be similar in terms of fuel consumption and both of them will be priced similarly but the diesel will likely be preferred by people thanks to its better mileage on the highway.

Changes on the Suzuki IV 4

The car has evolved quite a bit in terms of design ever since it was released to the public for the first time back in 2013. The 2015 concept car seems to be quite close to production and considering the fact it looks in line with most of their other models, it will likely not change all that much. Both its front and rear offer a V-shaped design with the headlights and the grille as well as the tail lights being shaped as a mild V.

On top of that, the front and rear bumpers feature bulky looking plastic shields which give it a really nice vibe. Unfortunately though, the great looking wheels will likely not see production and they are going to be replaced by smaller units in order to be more comfortable and cheaper to service.

Suzuki IV 4 Interior

The interior of the 2017 Suzuki iv 4 on the other hand will look nothing like the futuristic concept car but rather like the Baleno which is quite nice for its price point.

The two cars could share the same dashboard and instrument cluster but the iv 4 will feature slightly more room for the back seats as well as more upmarket features in its top end trim levels.

2017 Suzuki IV 4 Price and Launch Date

This car which is expected to be released at the end of next year while being available on the market shortly after. The price has been set at just over $15,000 and if it will ever be sold in the United States, it will likely see a price hike because the car will only be made in Hungary at first. This is because this is a car intended for the European market and it will likely stay that way for quite some time from now on.
