Lamborghini has to be the most interesting hyper-car manufacturer out there because their cars are not meant for pure speed but rather for thrills and the way these cars make their drivers feel. Their current flagship is the Aventador which has been around for some time now and it is expected to get a slightly bigger update with the 2016 Lamborghini Aventador which will include updates to their base models as well as to their SV line of cars which is basically the hardcore version of the Aventador.
2016 Lamborghini Aventador Changes
The carbon fiber chassis as well as most of the interior design will remain unchanged but the car is expected to get a slight update in design as well as slight changes to its powertrain which could make it even more impressive than it already is.
Engine of the new Aventador
Engine wise, the current 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 will likely be kept for the base model of the 2016 Lamborghini Aventador and this time around, the engine will make just as much as it makes in the SV, meaning 740 horsepower and more than 510 lb-ft of torque. The SV on the other hand has been rumored to receive a slightly more interesting powertrain. In fact, this may be the first Lamborghini to get a hybrid powertrain and even though there are many challenges to make it a hybrid, Lamborghini could just do it, especially since they have VW helping them.
This hybrid would make use of a smaller turbocharged 5 or 5.2 liter V10 which would be coupled to an electric motor and a set of batteries or even a KERS system. This would provide boosts of power when needed which would allow the SV to develop well over 850 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque which is a lot more than the base version or even than the current SV. This engine would also get a new gearbox as well as better fuel consumption and much better performance thanks to the higher amount of torque which will be available from lower down the rev range.
Lambo Aventador 2016 Interior
The interior of the upcoming 2016 Lamborghini Aventador will very likely remain similar, if not identical, to that of the current model meaning that it will stick with the current navigation and infotainment system as well as with the great seats and Alcantara wrapped interior. The SV will get thinner padded seats, a different instrument cluster as well as the deletion of the navigation unit.
Exterior of the new Lamborghini Aventador
On the outside, the new Aventador is expected to receive a few changes and while there aren’t any official details available about this, it seems that the car may be the trend setter for all of their future models so it may receive a unique exterior which will boast a completely different front end with even more aggressive features as well as a different rear end with a new diffuser, new tail lights and probably a new type of spoiler.
2016 Lamborghini Aventador Price
The price will still be around $400,000 for a base model while the SV versions will cost at least $100,000 more. The only drawback of the new model is that it will be a limited series of cars and this is because Lamborghini only made enough molds for around 4,000 cars and considering that back in 2013 they stated they already built their 2,000th car then it is quite clear that we will likely see only 500 to 1,000 of the new Aventador which is enough for most but it will mean that many people will not be able to buy one.
Lamborghini Aventador 2016 Release Date
The release date for the new model has been set at the end of 2016 and the car will likely not go into production for at least a full year after that.
