We are not surprised that Chevy is getting ready to launch a revamped version of the Malibu only three years after the current generation was released. We would do the same thing if we had to compete against the Honda Accord, the Toyota Camry, and the Ford Fusion. The company hopes that they will finally bring to an end the low sales of the current generation by introducing a sportier and larger version of it.
The vehicle will be officially unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show. They will try to turn the Malibu into an upscale model and whether or not this will improve its sales, we will find out soon.
The company announced that they were preparing something really great when it comes to the exterior design of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, something that would take your breath away. When we first saw the vehicle, we realized that they were not kidding.
The new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is really amazing. The new sedan looks much sportier and sleeker than its predecessor. What actually makes the new Malibu look so good is a perfect blend of new styling cues and a great deal of inspiration which has obviously been taken from the Chevy Impala. The vehicle sports similar headlights, taillights, and the front apron as the Impala. Of course, the vehicle has numerous unique features such as the spilt front grille, a new taillight cluster, a sportier bumper, a pointy trunk lid, and many others. The rear end of the car is said to be quite European because it is rather aerodynamic.
The car is 2.3 inches longer than the outgoing model with the wheelbase being stretched for 3.6 inches.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Interior
Chevy was aware of the fact that the outgoing model didn’t offer satisfying amount of space, especially rear legroom and that is why they decided to change it in the new model. Since the vehicle now has the longer wheelbase, legroom space has also been increased.
The cabin is equipped with a great number of easy-to-use technological features. It has a revised center stack which now has less buttons and knobs because of the new 7-inch touchscreen display. Higher trim levels get an 8-inch display. The most notable feature you will find inside of the newcomer is Teen Driver which allows parents to check how their children drove the vehicle by tracking the data of the car.
The new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be offered with two engines options. An Ecotec 1.5L turbo powerplant is capable of producing 160 ponies and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled to a six-speed automatic shifter. A 2.0L turbocharged power unit has the capacity to generate 250 horses and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be available as the Malibu L, Malibu LS, Malibu LT Ecotec 1.5L turbo, Malibu LT 2.0L turbo, and the Malibu Premier 2.0L turbo. The price of the vehicle will vary from $21.500 to $31.800, depending on the trim level you choose
