The Veyron still is one of the most impressive hyper-cars ever made because it made people say wow each time they saw it. On top of that, it was the only production model for a few years to be able to get past 250 MPH which is no easy feat, especially since the car made it look easy. Because they already made all 450 units, Bugatti plans on releasing a successor for the car with the 2016 Bugatti Veyron Mk.2, or as most people will call it, the Chiron. This car will still use a very similar platform to the first generation but it will get a new engine, a different four wheel drive system as well as a new gearbox. All of these are meant to make it faster and more refined than before which will not be easy.
2016 Bugatti Veyron Design
The design will depart from that of the current model which is to be expected considering that it aged quite a bit since it was shown back in the early 2000s. The new model will, in fact, take a lot of design cues from the Vision concept car which has been first revealed a few months ago.
The back end will be very similar to that of the concept but it will not feature a fixed wing while in the front we expect a nearly identical design.
Interior of the new Bugatti Veyron
Inside the cabin, the new Veyron will also feature a lot of improvements over its predecessor which lacked a lot of entertainment features which is quite normal considering it has been launched more than 10 years ago.
The new car will feature an infotainment system with satellite navigation, even better materials than before as well as more comfortable seats and a new design for the dashboard. This will allow its passengers to travel at over 200 MPH without having to deal with the noise or the vibration of most other cars capable of these speeds.
2016 Veyron Engine
Engine wise, the 2016 Bugatti Veyron will feature a very similar powertrain to the first generation of the car. This will be the same W16 petrol engine as before which will offer the same 8 liters of displacement. Just like before, the car will continue to offer four turbochargers but this time, two of them will likely get an electric aid. This should improve response times and it should provide more torque at lower rpm.
The first batch of cars is expected to get a mildly upgraded engine which would be capable to offer around 1500 horsepower and more than 1200 lb-ft of torque, more than any other production car in the World. The engine will then be mated to a new 8 or 9 speed automatic gearbox which will still be developed in cooperation with Ricardo.
The early performance figures suggest that the successor of the Veyron will hit 60 MPH in around 2 seconds, being limited by tire grip, and it will be able to hit a maximum top speed of around 288 MPH which would make it the fastest production car in the World. A SuperSport version would likely hit 300 MPH which is very impressive!
2016 Bugatti Veyron Price and Release Date
The price for the car has been announced to be nearly $3 million for a base spec coupe version. We do expect the cabriolet to cost at least $200,000 more than the coupe and on top of that, the later special editions could get this price as high as $5 million which would make it the most expensive production car ever made.
While the car has not been released so far, it has been shown to a select group of people and a model has been spied testing on the open roads, so we are happy to announced that the upcoming 2016 Bugatti Veyron is very close to being released.
